Samantha Lynne Wilson
Samantha Lynne Wilson is the Founder and Executive Learner of Child Leader Project (CLP). She is a UC Riverside alumna and is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity with a concentration in Leadership for Social Justice Community Organizations at Claremont School of Theology. Her life-long goal is the actualization of an integrated, sustainable and whole Inland Empire that is considered the “hub” of local food systems and youth-organizing. She enjoys learning Tamil, oak canyons, pot lucks and music by Ani DiFranco.
Toby Walker is a UC Riverside alumni, receiving his B.S. in Mathematics. Toby pursued a Teaching Credential from the Graduate School of Education in 2011 and is trained as a high school mathematics teacher, figurine painter and paintball aficionado. Toby has traveled twice with CLP (2009, 2011) as a chaperone and coordinator of the Send US to INDIA Program.
Brittney is an Executive Board member of CLP and is currently working on a Masters in Environmental Studies at San Jose State University. She joined CLP in May 2010: “My experience with our program for Quail Valley Elementary School changed the way I view youth and their important role in social issues.” Her focus is on the development of impactful youth engagement and leadership in environmental justice issues.
Cheng Ung is an Executive Board member of CLP and a Los Angeles native and a UC Riverside alumna currently pursuing a Master of Public Administration at the University of Southern California (USC) with a specialization in Nonprofit Management. Her interests include: (1) continuous growth through relationships and shared experiences with communities; (2) falling in love with cities around the world; (3) appreciating processes.
Candice Mays is an Executive Board member of CLP, having traveled to India in 2011 to support the Send US to INDIA Program and the development of CLP’s local programs. A woman with a truly wicked sense of humor and insight, she is currently studying for a Masters in English Education at NYU’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education and Human Development.
INDIA: Trustees of the Trust for Youth and Child Leadership
MDS Shiva is the Executive Learner of the Trust for Youth and Child Leadership (TYCL), CLP’s partner organization in India. He is a PhD Scholar in Social Work at Pondicherry University and is actively engaged in critical scholarship around community-based child protections. He loves his mom’s cooking, child rights and long drives on his red motorcycle.
Barathi Basu is a Trustee of the Trust for Youth and Child Leadership. He is actively engaged in his life as a student at Pondicherry Engineering College. Basu is also a leader in MUGHIL Social Welfare Organization. He loves children, computers and studying Pondicherry history.
Jugal Kishor is from Pondicherry, South India and serves as a founding Trustee to the Trust for Youth and Child Leadership. He is passionate about doing things in his community, teaching English, playing piano and studying networks. He enjoys making friends and learning what it means to be a “life long friend.” He is currently pursuing studying Network and Internet Engineering at Pondicherry University as a graduate student. He speaks Tamil, Hindi and English and is a budding Spanish student.
