The Selam Fund
The Selam Fund was founded to assist Serkadis Krohm, a former CLP SU2I mentor/intern, to bring her sister Selam to the US from Ethiopia to receive necessary medical treatment after a tragic car accident in Turkey. As an organization, CLP is founded on the belief of community and connection with our brothers and sisters around the world.
To learn more about the origin of The Selam Fund, watch the video below or in YouTube.
The Selam Fund serves to honor Selam and to serve as a platform for fundraising efforts to support and care for the global CLP community. The Fund will remain as an aid to CLP community members in India, Mexico, and the United States in times of dire hardship or emergency.
Although acts of giving will be on case-by-case basis, the Selam Fund will respond to three types of situations:
- 1 / critical, life threatening medical conditions
- 2 / natural disasters
- 3 / financial emergencies
This is not a loan fund to be used by people, and CLP will exercise great caution when determining its use.
Serkadis Krohm, Selam Fund: “Why India? Why Riverside? Because this is the place where it all started. Geographic location doesn’t mean that much to me. CLP started because someone had a vision that can reach out to people on the global level, and that person happened to be in Riverside.”
